Templates reduce the time it takes to enter user and device data. Common settings, such as the Class of Service and Device Type, can be saved in a User and Service template and applied to multiple users. Likewise with Key Templates which allow you program features to a set of keys and then assign them to selected phones. Data unique to each user and device, such as prime directory number and user name, are entered later on to complete the provisioning requirements.
User Roles connect users to templates. For example, after creating a User and Service Template along with a Key Template for your accounting department, you can then create a role called "Accounting." Whenever you add a user for this department, simply select the "Accounting" role in order to associate the user with the templates.
To create a Key template:
Click Add.
Enter a Template Name.
Select a Device Type or choose 'No Device' to make a template that you can assign to any device type.
Program the keys: assign a directory number (prime or other for a line appearance), feature, or application to each key, and assign a ring type to each line appearance.
Click Save.
To edit, copy, or delete a template, select it first, and then click the button.
NOTE: The system comes with a Default key template. You can update the field values for this template, but you cannot rename or delete it nor change the Device Type.
A User and Services template comprises Global Settings (Group Type, COS, COR), User Information (Department, Location, Language) and service data for Voice Mail and three phones (Office Extension, Dynamic Extension, and Other).
A Basic User template for phone service is provided along with three for the default UCC bundles on MiCollab. You can't modify these templates but you can copy them and modify the copies as required.
The Group Type sets the Service Level of all the phone services in the template as follows:
Group Type Selected |
Service Level Assigned |
No Group |
Full |
Personal Ring Group (PRG) |
|
External Twin (MDUG – Twin) |
Multi-device |
Standard (MDUG-Std) |
If you want templates with a mix of service levels, create them either in MiCollab or in the MiVoice Business System Administration Tool.
The COS for Phone Services are defaulted to the values in the attached spreadsheet but can be changed on the MiVoice Business Options page.
For COR defaults click here.
NOTES
Each template must contain at least one phone service except the Default template which can only have one.
The default Device Type for Office Extension and Other Extension is the 5330e IP.
To create a User and Services template:
Click Add.
Enter a Template Name and Description.
Select the Primary Phone.
Select the Global Settings which will apply to all phones in the template.
Enter the User Information.
Set the Group Element, Secondary Element, and UCC Bundle for the MiCollab-only template features. The template applies these settings, where applicable, to the Teleworker Extension, Unified Communicator Advanced, and NuPoint Unified Messaging voice mail services.
Select the required voice mail and phone services and enter the associated data for each.
For each non-primary phone service, you can generate a directory number that's derived from the first 'X' number of digits in the prime DN followed by an asterisk(*) and the remaining prime digits. Example: for a prime DN of 3333, a DN derived by inserting * after the 1st digit yields the DN 3*33.
Click Save.
Every User and Services template you create results in the creation of a User Role. The role name is the same as the template name but can be changed.
A single User and Device template can be linked to multiple User Roles.
To create a User Role:
Click Add.
Type a Name for the role. Notes are optional.
Click Next.
